Sugar Skull Party Favors

We are having a Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos) themed grad party for Artsy Chick.  I know, I know, it sounds a little strange for a grad party.  Hang in there.

Sugar Skull Party Favors

Trust me, it’s going to be really “cute” and suited to her personality.  That’s what it’s all about, anyway, right?

As with a lot of these ideas, the favors are only limited by your imagination and can be made with the supplies you have on hand.  These are going to be the first you see of the prep–I really wanted to get them “up” and Pin-able in case anyone else has the same hair-brained idea and wants some inspiration.

Supplies you will need:

  • 3 x 5 cello bags
  • card stock
  • candy (I purchased mine HERE.)  (Note:  IF you search for candy–use “Skull Shaped Candy, as Skull Candy will get you earbuds, headphones, etc.
  • 1″ sugar skull digital download (I purchased THIS one.)
  • Various die cuts/hole punch
  • Distress ink pads (optional)
  • Stapler
  • Glue dot runner
  • 2-sided tape
  • Paper cutter or scissors
  • Free #1 Grad printable  HERE
  • Scoring tool (optional)

Skull Party Favor

  1. Print out Grad download on cardstock, trim to 3″ x 3″ squares cutting under the print.
  2. Score at 1 1/2 inch for a fold line, then fold.
  3. Use distress pad and distress edges, if desired.
  4. Trim about 1 1/2″ OFF the top of your cello bag (making it shorter).
  5. Place approx. 1 oz. of candy into bag.
  6. Slide your card stock topper over the cello bag opening and staple.
  7. Print out your digital skulls and punch them out using a 1″ hole punch, or cutting with scissors.
  8. Use another die-cut and use glue dots to place skull on top.
  9. Double-side tape the skull design onto your topper.

It goes without saying, but I’m going to say it just the same:  If you want to use this idea NOT for a graduate–use your own paper or design your own, or embellish with washi tape, etc…

The most important thing is to have fun!
